October 13th, 1989
On this day in 1989, Orioles' skipper Frank Robinson is named the Associated Press Manager of the Year, easily outdistancing the runner-up, Don Zimmer of the Cubs. The Hall of Famer guided a young group of players in one of the greatest comeback seasons in history of the game, finishing the campaign 32.5 games better than the club's last-place finish the previous year.
