Start of the Jet Ski

Jet skis - ne personal watercraft - were pioneered by Bombardier for one year in the late 60's, it may have been 1968. At that time the snowmobile craze was strong and Bombardier looking for something to counterbalance the seasonality. However, their dealer network was too small and had little brand recognition, hence they could not "create" a market.

Jet Ski is actually a registered trade mark of Kawasaki Motor Co. and refers to any of the models of personal watercraft manufactured by Kawasaki. They have been in production since 1973.

Bombardier came back to the marketplace in 1987 with the now widely-recognized Sea Doo.
