Roommates or More?

Eating at John's apartment, his mother couldn't help noticing how beautiful her son's roommate was. Suspicious of their relationship, the young woman's good looks only made the mother more curious.

Reading his mom's thoughts, John volunteered, "I know what you must be thinking, but Julie and I are just roommates."

About a week later, Julie mentioned, "Since your mother came to dinner, I haven't seen the silver gravy ladle. You don't suppose she took it, do you?"

John said, "I doubt it, but I'll send her a text and ask."

He wrote: "Mother, I'm not saying you took a gravy ladle from my house and I'm not saying you didn't. But Julie's has been missing ever since you were here for dinner."

Moments later, John received a response from his mother which read: "John, I'm not saying that you sleep with Julie, and I'm not saying that you don't. But if Julie was sleeping in her own bed, she would have found the gravy ladle by now. Love, Mom"
