Get a Grip
The toe pick - the jagged sawlike teeth at the front of the blade of an ice skate - helps give an ice skater more control. The V-shaped grooves of the toe pick keep the skater from slipping on the ice. Figure skaters use the toe picks to push off the ice or jump into the air. The toe pick is the last part of the blade to leave the ice when doing a jump and the first part of the blade to touch the ice when the skater lands.
