On March 26th, 1979 Michigan State played Indiana State for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. Lead by point guard Magic Johnson, Michigan State would defeat Larry Bird's Indiana State team 75-64. Johnson was also named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
